Uniform and Badges
All sections wear a uniform to their weekly meetings and on trips or camps away. But what uniform is required?
What do Squirrels wear?
Squirrels wear a red sweatshirt, with their badges sewn on, and a pair of navy blue activity trousers or shorts. Upon their investiture, they will also wear a 2nd Braunston necker, which is green with a black trim.
Where do my badges go?
What badges can your Squirrel work towards?
There are a number of core badges, obtained upon joining or moving on from the Colony, or for time spent in the Scouting movement. These include the Membership Award, Moving-on Award (Squirrel Drey to Beaver Colony) and Joining-In Awards.
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Squirrel Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests. There are over 12 in total, so they can always find one that is of interest to them.
Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Drey or community. There are 4 challenge badges across a number of themes.
The staged activity badges have been designed to provide a unified approach throughout the sections. There are 14 activity badges staged across the sections.
This is the highest award available in the Squirrel Section. It shows that they have had adventures, helped their friends, and learned new things – it’s a big achievement, and you should be proud!
