2nd Braunston Scouts visit the birthplace of Scouting
2nd Braunston Scout group went camping at Buddens Scout Camp near Poole from Saturday 3rd to Tuesday 6th August. Activities included Bridge Building, Canoeing Games and highlight for Scouts and leaders alike, a day trip to Brownsea Island. Scout Founder Baden Powell ran his 1st trial Camp there on 1st August 1907 so it was the very same week. Below the modern custom of putting a group necker round the statue Of Baden Powell.

Scouting leaders Stuart Muddiman and Steve Irwin took the opportunity to invest Felicity Bushill as an Explorer Scout using their brand new Explorer Flag.
David Coleman the Cub Scout Leader awarded Dylan Wright (who recently linked to Scouts) his Silver Chief Scouts award – the highest award a Cub can earn.
Scouts saw the original site and of course just had to buy Brownsea Island Scouting souvenirs & Badges. The warm sunny weather allowed weather was perfect for a leisurely stroll round what turns out to be a beautiful unspoilt Island with no cars or dogs allowed. This was a real dream come true and made Brownsea Island not just a historic place name – but somewhere they have been.
